Why Everything Indie?

So this is a little explanation of why I decided to go from the Bookaholic to Everything Indie. Several years ago, I was a book reviewer and a very small one. It was hard keeping up with a blog and dealing with personal happenings in my life all at once so I had to delete it. I also had another blog that I would frequently update about the book I was currently working on and I deleted that too. Now, I'm coming back to blogging. Why? It's important to get a foot up in the industry I want to get into: The Gaming Industry. During my hiatus from blogging, I went on that life journey college students usually travel on when they have no clue what the hell they want to do for the rest of their lives and it hit me. I want to write a game but how do I do it?
I only knew how to write a novel not a game so for the past couple years, I spent my time researching and trying my hand at game writing. I also spent a great deal following indie gaming companies, lurking on steam forums, and playing video games on my down time. Seeing the indie gaming industry go from an after thought to a fully fledge traditional gaming industry rival was absolutely exciting. The folks who went out on their own finally making a huge mark was something to appreciate and that's why I created this blog but, it's not just dedicated to the indie gaming industry. This blog is dedicated to the indie industry as a whole meaning self-published books as well. My website wesellindie.com helps out self-published authors so it would make sense to include writing as well. I chose to go the self-publishing route for my novel and still plan on using it for the novels that I'm working on this year. Now, I'm not saying I won't being doing anything dealing with traditional companies. It just won't be something that I'll be focusing on heavily. My blog will mainly consists of indie gaming news, updates about my own work, and self-published books.
