Summary: Lastie is a part time detective and a full time vodoo priest. He helps his best friend Detective Jasmine with the weird cases that comes his way.
Thoughts: Yes, I know that the summary is short but that's all I got for you. Lastie's Grimoire is a self-published bind up of 4 short stories. I usually don't go for short story bind ups but I stepped out of my comfort zone because I previously played Gabriel Knight: The Sins of Our Fathers. It's a great story driven and mystery game with a similar premise. Since this was a small book, this will be a short review and I do have to say that I really enjoyed this bind up. It was hilarious and intriguing. Every story dealt with a different supernatural being and Lastie's connection to Legba, a god who frequently takes over his body. I have to admit that the first story wasn't as good as the rest. The first person perspective was weak and the story itself felt rushed. I was 30 seconds in and the story was over but when he switched over to 3rd person, I really saw Lastie's character come to life. He was real, a comedian, and even though he was a vessel for the god Legba, he knew his limits. I loved seeing new characters introduced in each story. In such a small span of time, I felt like I really could connect to them on a deeper level. I hope the author decides to expand on this world in the future as a full blown book. I would definitely like to see more of Lastie!
