The struggle of a writer is to stay focused down. Procrastination is a writer's worst enemy. As we speak, I'm watching From Dusk Till Dawn while writing this. I suffer from my severe bouts of procrastination (I'm ADHD for Christ's Sake!)and I'm not proud of, but who doesn't? My goal this year is to finish the novel I am working on, have a booth set up for the Baltimore Book Festival, and be on a panel. The novel that I'm working on, called the Void, is a New Adult Sci-Fi/Fantasy taking place in Baltimore. Even though New Adult is commonly associated with romance and sex, not all NA novels have it. I like to think of New Adult as the college age group and since my main protagonist is technically 18, it's a perfect fit. What's it about? I won't reveal anything else until I reach my word goal next week. Once that's out of the way, I'll spill the beans.
What else am I working on? A game. A narrative driven, choice-based game. Right now it's called Unknown Project because I have no freaking clue what I want to name it. For this, I will give a brief description: When Trinity’s twin sister, Infinity, goes missing, she thinks it’s another one of her sister’s temper tantrums but when Trinity arrives at her sister’s job, they claim they’ve never heard of her. That nice New York penthouse her sister spoke often about is just some shabby studio housing a couple. So her sister lied to her and a guy attacked her calling Trinity her sister’s name. Her butt is saved by people who simply call themselves “the group” an organization specializing in alien phenomena. They also mistake Trinity for Infinity. Why did that guy attack her? Who is “the group” and what do they have to do with her sister’s disappearance? Over the past few months, I've been sitting here pondering about how I should I write this game. Should I write the script now or later? What about the characters? How do I start? Multiple books give multiple opinions and they're all super helpful. They helped me decide to just write all of my thoughts down first and build from there. It's going to take me a while to create this game and I also need designers and such for it. Wish me luck!
